A warm, light-filled escape featuring our Lark wallpaper and Victoria window film
We’ve partnered with Xin (@athomewithxin) for three room transformations now, and each time she brings a grounded sense of creativity, softness, and joyful practicality to her projects. Her spaces feel lived-in in the best way, calm, approachable, and filled with mindful details for real family life.
With wallpaper in our Lark print and our light-bending Victoria window film, she transformed her bathroom into a small sanctuary.
Below, Xin walks us through her process, what she looks for in small-space design, and why she keeps returning to wallpaper and window film as tools for transformation.
Q: What inspired you to do a mini bathroom refresh, and why did you choose this space in your home?
Xin: I hadn’t touched this bathroom since we moved in, and it gets the most gorgeous southern light. I thought Artscape window film would be the perfect fit for this space since the window looks onto the street and to my neighbor’s house! The walls had been gray for years, so adding wallpaper brought in a fresh, fun focal point.
Q: You’ve worked with Artscape window film before. What keeps you coming back to us?
Xin: I’m impressed with the quality and how easy it is to install. Since it doesn’t use adhesives, it’s very forgiving. You can reposition it until it looks just right.
Q: This was your first time trying our paste-the-wall wallpaper. How was the experience compared to other wallpapers you’ve used?
Xin: I actually prefer paste-the-wall wallpaper over peel-and-stick because it gives you a little wiggle room to adjust if it’s not perfectly aligned. The paper is thick and durable, so you don’t have to baby it. High quality paper is such a treat to work with!
Q: What did you notice about the application process? Any surprises or tips you’d share?
Xin: My biggest tip is to use a laser level and wear an apron stocked with all your wallpapering tools (scissors, razor, straight edge, tape, smoothing tool, pencil). That way, you’re not constantly climbing up and down the ladder. Having everything on hand makes the process so much smoother.
Q: How do you feel the wallpaper changed the mood or energy of your bathroom?
Xin: The Lark pattern adds such a whimsical, playful vibe. Before, the bathroom walls felt flat and lacked personality. Now it feels lively and fun.
Q: What role did the window film play in the refresh? (Privacy, design, light play, etc.)
Xin: All of the above! It provides privacy while still letting in sunlight, and the oval motif in the Victoria film echoes the ovals in the wallpaper. They complement each other so well.
Q: Do you have a favorite moment when you first stepped back and saw everything finished?
Xin: I love the view looking from the bathroom into the bedroom. The door frames the arch plant wall in the bedroom with the wallpaper in the foreground. It gives the space so much dimension.
Q: How do you balance style and function when you’re choosing products for small spaces like bathrooms?
Xin: I think bathrooms are the perfect place to play with pattern. Since you don’t spend a ton of time there, you’re less likely to get tired of it. Plus, because the space is small, you don’t need as much product.
Q: For someone hesitant about wallpaper or window film, what would you tell them about your experience?
Xin: Start with the window film! It’s budget-friendly, easy to apply, and low risk. If you decide it’s not for you, you can just remove it. No damage done to your windows.
Q: You’ve now done three projects with Artscape, how would you describe the brand in your own words?
Xin: Artscape consistently impresses me with the quality and design of their products. They make it easy to get beautiful, professional-looking results at home.
Q: What’s your favorite detail in this refreshed bathroom that makes you smile every time you walk in?
Xin: I love how the window film filters the sunlight through the window. It also looks like the light is dancing.
Q: Any ideas already brewing for where you might use wallpaper or window film next in your home?
Xin: I think it would be really fun to try a furniture flip using window film.

With pattern play, mindful material choices, and a little sunlight choreography, Xin reminds us that even the smallest corners of a home can hold joy and beauty.
