What began as a moment of revelation in the Bay Area twilight has grown into a design legacy trusted by homes and studios around the world.
The Beginning
In 1995, founder Tom Hicks stood overlooking the San Francisco skyline and noticed something striking: glowing windows lit up like photo light boxes, each one revealing the lives within. It sparked a quiet question, what if the glass itself became the art? What if sunlight could illuminate a space while preserving privacy and transforming the view?
From that moment, Artscape was born.
Designed In House, to Inspire Your Home
From the beginning, the Artscape mission was to create something beautiful, accessible, and easy to live with. Inspired by old-world glass artisans, we developed a product that merged privacy with pattern, using static-cling technology and original, hand-rendered designs. Decorative privacy film was a new idea, and Artscape paved the way.
Designed and made in the USA, each film evokes the texture and character of real glass. Our BPA and phthalate-free static cling films are safe, simple to install, and affordable for everyone from renters to design enthusiasts.

From Windows to Walls: A New Chapter in Design
In 2025, Artscape expanded its creative vision with the launch of our first wallpaper collection. Designed in Portland and sustainably printed in Sweden, our wallpapers carry the same commitment to art and quality that define our films, taking our design legacy from windows to walls. Our wallpaper designs blend hand-rendered artisan techniques blended with expressive materials to create unique original designs.
Offered in both Premium Peel & Stick and traditional Paste the Wall formats, Artscape wallpapers provide options for temporary and permanent installs. Our non-woven materials are PVC-free, durable, and printed using eco-conscious methods and 100% fossil-free electricity. The result is a high-quality surface that is safe for your home, easy to apply, and made to last.
