PREP AND INSPECT
Thoroughly clean and dry the area to be wall- papered. Remove any nail heads, nicks and other surface imperfections. The product will not stick to unclean and textured surfaces. We recommend precutting the wallpaper on the provided trim line between the panels and laying them flat to remove any curling from the roll. Place these flat panels in the room you will be installing the wallpaper so it can acclimate to the temperature for 24 hours. Allow newly painted or primed surfaces to fully cure for a minimum of four weeks before application. If your walls are shorter than 10 feet, trim your panels from the top or bottom—choose the portion of the design you prefer.
MARK YOUR STARTING POINT
To ensure your wallpaper hangs straight, you will need to create a plumb line; this is a vertical line to help guide the first drop of wallpaper so it hangs straight down. Start at the left corner or left edge of the wall and measure out the width of the roll minus half an inch. Mark this point near the ceiling and use a level to draw a straight vertical line down the wall. Positioning the wallpaper with a slight overhang at the edge or corner helps prevent gaps due to uneven walls.
POSITION THE FIRST PANEL
Starting with “Panel 1” peel 12” of the backing away from the top of the paper. Allowing a bit of excess to overlap the ceiling, align the right side of the panel to your plumb line and lightly press the edge to the wall along the mark. You can reposition if needed to ensure a straight line. If you need to adjust, gently pull the top corners evenly and slowly downward, working parallel with the surface. Be careful not to stretch the material, and do not allow the adhesive surfaces to come in contact with each other.
APPLY AND SMOOTH WALLPAPER
Working from top to bottom, gently pull the backing downward as you evenly and firmly press the paper to the wall. Continue in 12” to 24” increments peeling and smoothing until you reach the edge of your surface. Allow for the end of your panel to have a slight overhang at the baseboard or floor. After your panel is applied, use your squeegee and gently push out any air pockets working from the center out. Repeat these steps with your remaining panels in chronological order. Matching the pattern and aligning the next panel’s edge to the right edge of your previous panel.
TRIMMING
After all panels are hung, trim excess material at the ceiling, baseboard, and corners using a straightedge and sharp utility knife. Hold the straightedge firmly against the wallpaper and guide the knife along its edge for a clean cut. Change the blade frequently to ensure smooth, precise cuts.
