Every Artscape design begins as a hand-drawn sketch, an intentional starting point that anchors the rest of the creative journey. From there, our designers explore a range of mediums including watercolor, embroidery, weaving, pastels, and photography to develop each concept with depth and material nuance. This hands-on approach ensures that every wallpaper and window film carries the tactile richness of traditional craft, translated into forms ready for modern interiors.

Inspirations
Rooted in the Pacific Northwest, our designs draw from natural forms, layered stone, shifting light, leaves, and wild blooms. This organic sensibility is paired with reverence for design icons like William Morris, Gunta Stölzl, and Maija Isola. Whether inspired by the forest floor or the legacy of pattern-making, we create with rhythm, place, and curiosity, always grounded in the art of close observation and thoughtful craft.

Material Translation
Our design process is deeply tactile, rooted in real materials, real tools, and a deep respect for craft. In our Portland, Oregon studio, we work directly with stained glass, hand-cut paper, and natural pigments to explore how light, texture, and form interact. Window film designs often begin by assembling actual pieces of glass, capturing how color and transparency shift with movement and time. For wallpaper, we test pigment by hand, layering paint, ink, and fiber to ensure each pattern carries the warmth, irregularity, and depth of something truly made. This hands-on approach ensures our final surfaces don’t just look crafted—they feel it.
